SQN Website Hosting and Options.

Postby andrewb » Fri Jan 02, 2009 1:02 am

Hello everyone (Excusing Rank),

I've recently been discussing with my CO about the development of our SQN website, I have come up with a simple e107 CMS based website that contains everything we need. Now I have word that Drupal will be the supported CMS through the new C1 system does this mean I MUST use Drupal or can I stick with e107? e107 has the same requirements as Drupal but in my personal opinion performs better. Now I have seen the development of the Open Access module for Drupal but I have also seen SQN Websites using the Open Access module on e107, have they edited the module to make it compatible or is it now available for e107?

Lastly, how can I go about getting SQN Web Hosting. I am more than happy to provide web hosting from my own servers but they are located in the US (that's not a problem with me as most servers are located their, it's just it may be an AAFC policy) 7WG doesn't seem to have its site up and running (http://7wg.aafc.org.au) so does this mean it doesn't have an active server to provide hosting on? Also if 7WG does provide hosting what are the features of it?

Kind Regards,

CDT Booth,

The 7WG server can be accessed through FTP at this moment, but not by the general public. 7WG ITO is currently rebuilding the server. It has pretty much everything - MySQL, PHP, you know the drill. Drupal is able to run on the server.

I have a space set up for 417 SQN on the 7WG server. Word is that national hosting will be available but I have no idea when.

CDT,

It is required that you host your SQN website on a AAFC related server on the aafc.org.au domain.

As the WG ITO, send me an email, I am happy to discuss further as I have already been speaking with your CO regarding some of this.

email is chris(dot)bombak(at)cadetnet(dot)gov(dot)au
